HISTORY: Pillar completed 1st September 1955 costing £21.2s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NX56/DM/9 by distomat observation within the Kirkcudbright block during 1958. Levelled for height also during 1958. Last maintained by the OS in May 1988. SITE VISIT: Parked on west side of widened section of single track road at NX627475. Access via track opposite Chapelton and found an unmapped right of way running perpendicular to my route. Took RoW to field west of trig, then just one wall hop, this wall is constructed purpose built steps just west of trig. Pillar in good condition. Spider has replacement OS centre cap with raised small letters. Flush bracket faces 53° NE. Vented through sight hole on FB face. Rusting 6ft high cistern several metres NE of pillar acted as tripod for photographs. 360° open outlook across Solway Firth and inland to higher hills.

vgc, metal cap, small raised letters. Pasture, nice summit & view. Rainy morning, not forecast, but first rainy trigging session I can recall this year so no complaints I guess.
