St Alkmund's Church, Derby. Built in 1846, it was knocked down in 1968 to make way for the Derby inner ring road (called St Alkmund's Way - the A601). The demolition was an appalling act of cultural vandalism, slammed by locals at the time, as the Council could quite easily have routed the road around the church. The church was right next to the Catholic St Mary's Church, which is still there. There is a plaque next to the A601 dedicated to the memory of St Alkmund's Church. There is a replacement St Alkmund's Church on Kedleston Road

(1915) Church demolished in the late 60s. A replacement St Alkmunds church was built in the 70s - located on Kedleston Road.
