Convenient layby at nt949579. The track NW alongside the wood presents fence problems. Should have accessed via gates along the road to Campfield Farm. This pillar shows the last vestiges of a lick of paint from when it was looked after. The lovely weather, unusual for February adds credence to this trig point.

Roadside verge parking due S. Bagged the hill first on track running NW alongside woodland. then directly across pastures to trig, which has a ROC fallout monitoring bunker close by. Pillar has a smooth screed finish with slight reddish tinge to it and minor chipping to 2 vertical edges. Original top cap is retained, deeply indented lettering; LHS sight hole open, front plug degrading. Good views to rolling pastures.

The hil is probably due for admission to the list of marilyns, the official line being that it has 149m of reascent, but the spot height of the summit has grown a metre, and thats not the high point. The caravan top is higher. There is also an old ROC bunker up here. Great view today - Cheviot, Eildons, Hill of Wirren and a cracker straight up Glen Clova. Not bad for just shy of England.
