Parking not east, especially as verges are soggy after a wet winter. Parked in entrance to drive a few hundred metres to the east. Easy walk along wide uncultivated field margin, then into wood. Trig on top of a barrow which the badgers are making a mess of.

Parked on the grass at the end of the tree line just after Canada house walked through the trees then onto the field. Followed the tree line on my left. Keep going til it starts to turn left and look through the trees it's sat on a large mound high up. Very nice©Drewpeacock

Parked at metal gate just after Canada house, then followed road to wooded area. Entered Wood but quickly decided to go the field edge way and cut in when level with pillar, Trig in good condition sat on its own mound with all its metal work still in place

Parked quite a way down the road at a gateway blocked by an old rotting tree trunk. Some hard standing. Walked along road and then entered the field at side of wood. walked until parallel with pillar and the entered the woods. Pillar very well camouflaged at this time of year and almost on top of it when spotted. all well here.

Pillar 2/7 of a Wolds trig round. We parked up on the grass just down from Canada Cottages on the B1253. I elected to go solo for this one because as others have noted, you are nowhere near any ROWs or access land - this is definitely a trespass trig. Fortunately, the woodland edge is unfenced from the road, so there are no fences/barbed wire to negotiate that way; the adjacent field has a very wide scrubby edge between the trees and the crop and the fence is non-existent in places, so despite feeling trespassy throughout, access is actually a doddle here. The pillar is a fair old walk into the wood, but sits in a wonderful setting atop a small tumulus that looks to be an active badger sett. The trig is in very good condition with a full set of metalwork, although a small amount of the foundation is exposed.

Parking possible on the verge to the E. Walked down along the edge of the wooded hedgerow until pillar visible in the hedge sat on its tumulus.

(1225) Parked up near Canada cottages, and walked through the woods until reaching the pillar. As with the previous visitor, took the quicker and easier field edge route on the way back. Pillar located on a piece of high ground, though no views are really possible. All good in regards to condition, and a nice one to bag. Pillar history: Built on the 3rd of May 1951, at a cost of £12 6s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 2000.

Today I have been to Canada! No planes or boats were required, it's just a short drive from where I live. Where this trig point in East Yorkshire gets its name, I do not know... One thinks of trig points as being in wide open spaces on top of big hills, so it is odd to find this one in a decaying woodland on a small rise, and with no views at all. Ah well - Mr Google indicated that would be the case!

I was expecting this pillar to be at the edge of the field and not inside the wood. It was dark under the tree canopy.

Walked up field edge to trig. Charlie was very interested in the burrows so had to be kept on the lead in case he ventured in. Not sure where the name Canada comes from?

Easily accessible from the nearby road by walking along the field edge and striding over wire fence. Well hidden in woodland but everything appears to be in good order.

Looking at the map and on Google Earth, a parking place wasn’t immediately obvious but there is room to pull a car off-road at N54° 04.131’ W000° 37.556’. From there, it’s a short walk beside the field to the pillar, which is built on top of a small ‘tumulus’ (one of half a dozen or so tumuli in the immediate vicinity), just inside Towthorpe Plantation. It’s not on, or even close to, a public right of way so you look for this one at your own risk. The pillar is in good condition with all it’s metalwork in place. It’s very dirty and the top is moss covered. Being inside woodland, there are no views… just trees.

Plug intact, paint flaking. Trig on top of mound in a narrow belt of woodland; no undergrowth so easily found. The last trig on an afternoon tour between Flamborough and Sledmere - thanks to IRM for the driving.
