One of eight trig points bagged in the south of the Peak District. This was the last. Parked on the road side with pillar just the other side of the drystone wall and barbed wire fence. The pillar is in generally good condition and retains the original centre for the spider. Views are OK.

Parked on the road opposite the field in which the pillar is located. Accessing the field is tricky as the dry stone wall is somewhat unstable and there is a tall barbed wire fence behind it. But managed it! Getting out is more difficult, and I simply climbed over the wall into the next field, and exited that by climbing over a gate.

Trig easy enough to find at the side of the road all be it, it's on the wrong side of the dry stone wall, quick climb over the metal gate takes you to it. Trig in great condition and only about a mile away from Bradnop trig which is on the same side of the road and again on the other side of the wall

re-visit. Touched in over roadside wall. The ride along the Morridge rates as my favourite scenic ride. Leek, Tittesworth Reservoir and Black Rocks nearby. Gun Hill and Boseley Cloud and Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope. Fiddlers Ferry Power Station out on Deeside. Delamere Forest, Peckforton Hills, on to the Clwydian Hills in Wales. Caer Caradoc near Welshpool, Pontesbury Hill, the Wrekin and the Clees the far side of the Severn. And more!

A pedal over the county line and before hitting this trig I picked up my first plane wreck site of 2020. All debris removed now, but a simple iron cross mark's the spot the P47 Thunderbolt came down in 1944 killing the pilot (2nd Lt Q Sella). Pillar intact and on the W side of the road behind the wall. 1/5 visited today and gifted to pop up book stores that have appeared in telephone boxes in the villages I have cycled through. I note "The Cyclist" was upon Morridge today.....we may have passed each other!

Easy bag along Morridge. Camber or the wall and fence. Glorious evening with views to the Clee Hills, Long Mynd, Long Mountain and Breidden Hills to SW and West. Cannock Chase to the south and the limestone core of the Peaks to the east. Ramshaw Rocks and The Roaches were lit in contra-jour by the low sun. Perfect!

Second of three trigs after retrieving a lost fleece. Easy to find trig but needed a careful climb over wall and infernal barbed wire. Good views, especially W and E. Skylarks and lapwings provided background music. On to Ford and trig near Grindonmoor gate.

Left the car infront of Onecote village hall then walked NW along Douse Ln to its junction with Morridge Top Rd where I had brief views across to Chrome Hill. Turned SE up onto the ridge. Pillar then easily spotted on the right just inside third field along Morridge Top Rd. You will need to climb the wall to view FB as there is no nearby gate. Field was very boggy today and the pillar was surrounded by water.

Trig up against the wall albeit by a couple of feet. Unfortunately Flush bracket on opposite face, so rather than find a way onto the other side of the wall you can step onto the top of the trig and lower the camera down to grab the number - don't suppose this is recommended from a H&S perspective !! but it worked for us. Spider/FB and plug intact.

Right. All set for my 2012 project - all the Trig Points in the Pek District. Day one. Five trigs lined up today, starting at this one by the side of the road. Low cloud so no views although I expect they could be good. Surprisingly difficult to find! Are we at risk of invasion? No road signs anywhere! Finally got started by Sat Naving to Douse Lane, (driving past the Trig Point on my way!). Easy to lean across the barbed wire fence to put both hands on - my criterion for a proper "bag".

This pillar is tucked way behind a dry stone wall backed up with barbed wire. There is, however, a gate into the field a hundred yards or so to the south east at SK 03042 55181. You can back your car in off the road here too. This pillar is in grand condition with all the metalwork in place. The centre plug is of the shallow indented sort. There is evidence (on the edge of the flush bracket) that this pillar was once painted white but the paint has long since been weathered away. The views all round are great but today was a bit hazy in the distance and that spoilt it a bit.

A brilliant day today with 360 degree views. Most visitors seem either to have looked over the wall or negotiated it and the barbed wire, but the gate to the NW seemed the best option to access the pillar. It is in good condition with intact plug.

Very windy here today. I didnt scale the wall and barbed wire, the field was full of cattle (both sexes and all sizes) who were right by the trig. I took the safer option and reached over the wall for my GPS reading, so its probably way out!

3/5 for today on 15 mile circular. Another road side trig, no handy gate on this one though, so precarious straddle of the barbed wire required, crumbling wall did not help. Extensive views to Croker Hill (Sutton Common), Roaches and The Cloud.

Can be bagged from roadside but the Flush Bracket faces west so you'll need to cross the barbwire fence to see it.
