Roadside verge parking (NY 1727 5890). Walked the lane, hopped fence and across sheep pasture. Pillar sits in a gorse field boundary, but is accessible. An original centre cap is retained, deeply indented lettering; LHS sight hole open, RHS & rear not determined - below ground level. Good views across the Firth.

Up yet another track not to bad this time had to walk a field further because of beef cattle.Managed to dodge under the gorse and photo the trig and plug before the cattle charged.Did some research on the massive circle of comms masts near here it transpires there transmitting coded microwave messages to our submarines!

Another pillar in a gorse hedge! Original plug with deeply indented letters. No paint. N sighthole open, others closed.

Good condition pillar at field boundary. FB faces west-ish with north-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with sunken lettering. Great views to Criffel. Easy enough access from the lane to the south although the gate has more barbed wire piled on it since the last visitor.

Interesting neighbour (the Radio Station, which TomTom tried to take me thro' :-/ ) Extra point for the wonderful sunset that 'tangoed' my photos! :-) All in situ and well with only NW sight open. Another muddy lane to reach this sheepy field.

Walked along greenlane from village and across field from barbed wired gate to trig. Should have taken cutters to trim back gorse a bit.

Approach along lane, which was slightly overgrown but not muddy. Trig hidden in a gorse bush. Excellent view of Criffel and adjacent radiomasts.

Another muddy track! so took a different route just north past farm climbed over gate walked around hedge then through a small gap only two strands of barbed wire then up to trig FB facing west

HISTORY: Pillar completed 6th April 1952, cost not on record. Computed astertiary triangulation station NY45/T13 in 1953. Levelled for height in 1971. Last maintained by the OS in April 1977. SITE VISIT: Overall approach from southwest. Parked in village. Followed mapped track and boundary to top. West side of boundary hedge. Grazing field. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~238 across field. Vented through NW sight hole.

No status comment as all I could see was a little bit of stone though the gorse hedge while inspecting from the ajoining field. Why adjoining? 20 young cattle without udders was a sufficient deterrent. Parking in the village where the main green lane leaves the road.

We parked at the farm and walked down the grassy track and up the field to the trig - no problem. Good view of the radio masts. Plug with heavily indented lettering.
