Sounds like I took a very similar route to dugswell2 parking at Glasserton Church. Then used track passed Home Farm to access pasture and easy route to summit via gate at N54° 43.032' W4° 28.620', then through gap in wall at N54° 42.917' W4° 28.752' past ruin at N54° 42.743' W4° 28.795' and also spotted the spring before the trigpoint, all on what looked like quad tracks.

My driver Adrian parked at Glasserton Church which is well worth a look. Then used track passed Home Farm to access pasture and easy route to summit. Then on towards Fell of Carleton Tump summit and nearby trig. Return via to the WNW of Home Farm.
