Clochandighter route on a raw day with snow patches (though unfortunately not cold enough to freeze the soggy moor). Great views from the top across Border Country. The summit cairn looks prehistoric (possibly Bronze Age): a 10m diameter cairn of large stones, with its middle reshaped into a shelter: similar to other huge summit cairns in the Cheviots.

From Rushy Rig via Wheelrig Head and Hartshorn Pike. A light dusting of snow and -8 degrees made the going easy. Great views along the crest, clear skies and a sea of mist below with just the higher peaks visible including The Eildons and Rubers Law. Pillar unchanged from previous reports. Thanks to former visitors for the route information.

Parked at Rushy Rigg and followed Clochandighter's route. Poor Mag and the Bairns - they're slowly being quarried away! The ridge between Hartshorn Pike and Carlin Tooth is delightful if a little boggy. Made good use of the windshelter surrounding the trig as a cold gale was blowing. Good view.

I visited this on my first day walking the Watershed of Scotland from Peel Fell to Duncansby Head, which I plan to do in stages. Carlin Tooth is just off the Watershed. The day had started in foul weather but improved and the views were impressive despite low cloud
