Walked up from Balvraid. Good track all the way to the top. Very hot but views were hazy. Made a round of it by following the track over the back and back down the adjoining glen. With Nozzer.

Parked at Balvraid and were informed by a lady feeding her chickens that there may be shooting on the hill, she understood the right to roam but just wanted us to be aware....we didn't see any signs of shooting but did hear some off in the distance. Easy enough walk up a good path all the way to the trigpoint. Very snowy and icy in places and very windy at the top, everyone was very grateful for Ken's shelter. Worth a look at the memorial too.

Log #59. Straightforward walk up from Balvraid, great view in all directions from pillar. Wind farm at Garbole is visible to the west, and can just about see the Cairngorms to the south. As others have mentioned, memorial to an RAF bomber which crashed while on a training flight. The plate has been replaced recently, it's much clearer and easier to read. There has also been a new fence put up since Graeme's photos. [ExP-57/MiP-0/BM-2]

Pillar, view towards Carn Glas Choire.
Memorial cairn and remaining bits of wreckage.
Close-up of memorial plaque.

Approached from NNW. Parked on roadside verge just east of Balvraid at NH829314 where the mapped yellow road infill expires. Followed mapped track (Balvraid Lodge) south which runs all the way to the summit and beyond. Large open moorland hill. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces NNW, compass reading 341. Vented through NE sight hole. 360 panoramic view.

Walked up from river findhorn nice easy walk following a nearby farm fence right to the Trig. Still patches of snow remain from the winter onslaught. The nearby memorial of the crashed whitley mk 5 was dated 6th January 1942. Very hard to read though had to look close. Additional : just an article i found about the crash. Worth a look.
