I left a painted rock here that I'd found near the Billinge trig. It is part of a memorial to a lady who passed away in February after a Brain Aneurism. Hopefully the next visitor will be able to relocate it to another trig? Rest in Peace Kini (Kinisrocks85) fb & Insta

No wonder it was easy for bramble and nettle to obscure it on last visit. 39 double paces north of the east west track (65m) and about three metres west of the north track. Reused an old wheeze on Friday to great effect. Seeking out Carrington Moss this time from the north, I was stopped again by a Man United security guard and another barrier. I said, " I just want to drive down the track and along to the right under the pylons to visit the triangulation pillar there." Bemused look. "why??" " For photographic research purposes". "No, I don't think so." Then I remembered a fictional organisation I dreamed up in the mid nineties and printed off some official looking A4 forms to put on a clip board. 'TriPIC' the 'Triangulation Pillar Inspectorate Collectorate.' Thinking on my feet quickly, I said, " I'm from TriPIC the triangulation pillar inspectorate collectorate. I know there's a Manchester United training ground down there and you want to protect them from snoopers but I'm not interested in that, I want to turn right before that, to the pillar." " OH, RIGHT, okay then, they never tell us these things down there" Up goes the barrier and I drive to within 60m the pillar. Result! Good idea for anyone else to use in any situation when a GOML might be impressed and help you get to a pillar more easily!
