5th Trig Point of the day as I was travelling home and weather wasn't good enough to go very high and I was able to pick TPs between showers. Easy walk to this trig point. Any path from the car parkview point seemed to go to Carrot Hill , then one track went on to Dodd Hill. It is 4 km round trip including both hills, all very easy walking on good paths.

Mrs B had this one on the list as easy. I supposed compared to most it is but the path was very muddy and the lack of trees due to felling left you very exposed in the wind. However we even managed to walk over the other peak!

A short walk up the track through the gorse and broom towards the trig. Should have walked a bit further to find the path to the trig but turned back and walked through the heather. A bit of a grey day today.

An easy 'get' this one: from the viewpoint carpark a quick lope through woodland and heather (paths all the way) to 11118 which retains its cap & is in general good condition. Back to the silver machine just in time to hear Val Mcdermid on Desert Island Discs playing 'The Road & The Miles To Dundee' by Kenneth McKellar which seemed so appropriate as I'd just been observing that fair city in the near distance. Also great to hear a Raith Rovers fan on Desert Island Discs!

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 10th May 1948 costing 7.13s.6d with flush bracket S4603. Later in 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO42/T7 in the Dundee secondary block. Flush bracket S4603 was replaced by FB No. 11118 in June 1963 which was last levelled for height in 1971. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1981. Nice path, through the heather to this one. Accidently disturbed two lovers on the way. At the time I could not understand how this trig pillar had such an unusually high FB number. Almost fifteen years later, I was enlightened, as detailed above. Information kindly provided by the OS.
