Visited in the fading evening light on the way from Penmanshiel to Dunbar. Parked just off A1 at NT771722 (just inside East Lothian boundary with Scottish Borders). Walked along edge of crop stubble field to coastal fenceline and then NW for 50m or so to trig. Views of cliffs to E and Torness Power station to NW! Cliff edge behind trig drops to shingle and rock at the edge of the North Sea.

Heading south down the A1, turn in to the small road directly by the WELCOME TO THE SCOTTISH BORDERS sign. The pillar can be reached down a short track from here. The pillar is on a cliff top, just outside the boundary fence of an arable field. The approach along the cliff is relatively straightforward, but the long grass means you can't see where you are putting your feet, so you need to pay attention. The flush bracket faces into the field.
