Very interesting to see a section Antonines Wall for the first time and fine autumn colours to enjoy. Too dreich to appreciate what must be fine views from the pillar on a clearer day.

Unfortunately it was fairly dreich and misty, so none today. Pillar is in decent, not great, condition with cap plugged and two sightholes open. [ExP-249/MiP-31/Rev-2/BM-23/IS-34/Other-17]

Walked up from Twechar on probably the sunniest day this year so far. Enjoyed looking at the very interesting remains of the roman fort on Barr Hill, on the way over to Castle Hill. Castle hill itself is a splendid conical top with a surprisingly airy feel at the trig with the ground plunging away steeply to the north. The trig itself is obviously being maintained by somebody and was painted with a fresh looking coat of whitewash. Amazing ringside seat for the southern escarpment of the Campsie Fells and Kilsyth Hills - I took a pair of binoculars and spent some time taking in the amazing view. A fantastic short walk!
