Easy to locate, but access to highest point of castle denied for H&S reasons. Still a very atmospheric place with some good views. Visited while on Durham to Dorset walk.

Sunset after rain, nice place. My GPS put it on edge of ramparts of Sandal Castle although reviewing the 1960s photo it looks more central. Obviously a fair bit of new stonework since then.

Took my daughter and really enjoyed the visit. Lack of trig not important due to castle remains taking precedence. Good view of Woolley Edge, Emley (and Black Hill beyond). Interesting view of Calder ox-bow I have never seen before.

Great place, very interesting. Quieter today than it was in 1460. Great views across to Pugneys Country Park & lake. Nice little Visitor Centre.

Don`t usualy bother with missing trigs but this site is worth a visit.Good views and that was in the dark ! Might come back for a look in daylight.

Good view over Pugney's from the viewing platform. Toilets and refreshments avalaible at the adjacent visitors centre.

GPS would suggest it was located on top of castle tower, under what is now a viewing platform - nice area and views.

A wooden viewing platform now occupies the site. Theres an album of photos at the Visitor Centre one of which (1960s) shows the trig on the top of the Keep.

The castle has had work done on it recently, there is a viewing platform where the pillar should be, and a visitors centre. Worth a visit even though the pillar has gone.
