Obviously been sadly removed by landowner judging from previous listings (Feb 93 according to the OS Trig Database). Maybe someone could make a replica trig and place it there ? Interesting how birch trees are gradually taking over the heather here - an example of what happens to a low-level non-managed heather moor.

My 100th trig - pity it was missing ! I agree entirely with MAC.HAWK and stonestreaker on this one. Location still worth visiting though. My reference today was OS Landranger 104 of 1997 which depicted pillar in situ. I gave up looking for pillar after a few minutes but logged coordinates where I thought it should be. Discovering later that my guess was accurate was some consolation.

Rural vandalism. I wouldn't normally consider visiting a missing pillar but was the other side of the valley grabbing Worlds Hill & Branshaw and on a good day with plenty of time, well what the hell! I eventually approached from the south along the ROW but there are several paths running across Catstones Moor and easily found the trig site. It's difficult to know why the trig's missing - the moor is heather, gorse & fern (all look well established) so no arable or livestock suitability - so why remove it - was the landowner planning to trash the moor in 1998? (see saginanivalis log). I can't think of a reason why! It's now on Access Land and a nice spot with good views in most directions. There's currently a large gap in the wall by the road 100 yards to the north west of the trig (looks like a car's hit it) giving easy access/egress.
