Low mist and poor visibility made scoring this trig difficult, but it was very quiet up there, and the path from the Caw slate quarry/mine indistinct -which suggests that this is a nice quiet place. The old Caw slate mine is worth a look in if you take a torch. The entrance has a little surface water but it soon opens up into a much larger area, which is safe to explore.

We skirted around the bottom of Caw until we were a little further round than the unclimbable Goat Crag face, then headed straight up. Pretty tiring on the legs, but the view of Harter Fell and the distant Scafells from the top was worth it! Nice sea views to the south and west too.
