Travelling east on A47, about half a mile east of Glaston, pulled in at lay-by on north side of the road. A bit pressed for time so checked more detailed map on here. Could see tunnel ventilation shaft on raised ground to west and south of the lay-by. Walked along verge and was able to get through a hole in the hedge on the south of the road, probably used before. Through head high thistles and weeds and brambles to get to the mound. Awkward clambering up because of tussocks and very lumpy ground. Needed to get on top of hill before spotting pillar. In long grass but pretty good views to south. Spider and cap and OS plaque in place. Notice that the TPUK site shows the pillar as being in Leicestershire although OS LR 141 shows Rutland county boundaries.

2 of 4 today, parked in the layby on the A47 opposite the mound with the pillar on top, an easy walk through an unlocked gate and up the man-made hill to the trig, great views from the pillar and also of the railway that passes under the hill, this pillar is situated very close to a ventilation for the railway tunnel. FB, Spider and centre plug all in place with all sight holes open.

(2601) My 400th extant pillar. Handy layby on the A47 directly across from the pillar. Which is located on the top of a clumpy man-made mound (railway tunnel spoil heap). Easy access as gate was open and the mound, though overgrown, was quickly scaled. Pillar all good - retaining its original centre cap with lightly indented lettering, and sporting a OS plaque. Decent views from the top, and a ventilation shaft is present nearby. Pillar was last maintained by the OS in 1984.

Good parking in large layby on S side of road, ~130m W. Trig sits on top of a large mound covered in long, rough grass with an adjacent air vent for the Glaston railway tunnel that runs beneath. Pillar retains an original centre cap, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes open. Views, but none to shout about.

K Lumpy, rough, less than 5 minute climb via roadside gate from A47 lay-bys. Extra height gives a fine all round view with the nearby rail tunnel vent forming an unusual trig companion. Everything still intact.

A lovely sunny day. Easy bag, park in one of two large laybys or in gate apron. Pass through gap between hedge and gate and turn left to pass on north side of mound. Then up to the top adjacent to the air vent tower for the railway tunnel. Great views almost all round. All view holes open and original cap.

Located on the top of a hump. Walked round the perimeter to find the easiest way up through the weeds and nettles. Had to be careful as ground very holey. Once near top pillar came into view. Good condition with some views.

N 52 35.620 W 000 40.085 I had been here some time ago for a geocache which was ( and probably still is ) next to the pillar but now I know about trigpointing too ! Easy parking despite the busy road with a lay by for East and West bound drivers , followed by a short but quite steep little man made hill with pillar in good condition on the top . First time I've spotted an OS info plate added to a pillar .Photos taken of it , and good views but a bit dull late on an autumn afternoon !

Parked in layby opposite, clambered over gate into field. Had to negotiate some rape, then tackle the ring of stingers protecting the mound. Thigh-high vegetation currently growing all over the mound and around the pillar. Not very usual to see a trig pillar positioned on an artificial hill, I thought. Pillar has an OS plaque, dated 1999.

Joint visit with Carole. We parked in the lay-by on the southern side of the A47 just to the west of the pillar. Then went through an open gateway and simply followed a walked trod up to the pillar which stands on a raised mound by the railway air chimney. The pillar is in good condition, still retains an original indented metal plug and has one of the GPS Network plaques attached. An elevated view point with a geocache deserves a high score!

Bagged on work trip to Peterborough. Trig just visible driving from the East. Very long grass on spoil-hill almost as high as trig. Good layby on same side of A47 a few metres to the west. Gate missing so straight into field and up VERY steep slope. Lovely views from top on sunny day.

Parking available to the north on both sides of road. Best to park to the NW, on the south side of the A road. Good views from the trig, and the railway runs underneath. The trig is in Rutland, not Leicestershire.

The first of 8 logs for the day going to and from the 75th anniversary meet at Cold Ashby. Good views from here over the glowing fields of rape. The strange little hill as Scafell3210 calls it is spoil from the excavation of Glaston tunnel, brought up via what is now the adjacent ventilation shaft.

Big Fish is out caching with The Imp today and as we drove up the road The Imp suddenly pulled in and said, there's a cache round here somewhere, so up the hill we trundled and lo and behold what was waiting for us on the top but this nice little Trig. An unexpected bonus on today's trip. It was bloomin freezing up here today in that wind, not too bad once you'd got off the top.

Easy to park in the near by layby, managed to scramble to the top and get down ok although just as i was leaving some farmer pulled into the field from the main road, so quick dash back to the car before any questions were asked.

Parked in nearby layby and easy walk. Trig is unusual in that it is located on what appears to be a man made hill. Must understand what a passive gps trig is used for and how.

On top of air shaft/spoil heap over railway. Quick climb from layby but long vegetation at this time of year. TP has quite a growth of orange lichen, original plug, and OS plaque. Wide, open views to S in particular. Larks singing, sun already warm and hot air balloon just taking off to N.

Parked in the nearby lay-by, easy access and a short climb up the hillock. Nice views from the trig, lots of long grass around which didn’t help when I dropped my GPS on the way down. Luckily I found it after 15 minutes frantic searching so could carry on caching.
