Bagged on a circular walk from Roberton. The walk we were following (in reverse!) became rather vague once we were into the young forestry plantation and reckon we took an awkward route across the tussocky ground to the trig. So sad to see a trig in such a state however the views were very impressive, especially towards Greatmoor which we summited recently. Good to get this one in the bag at long last as it’s been on my list for a while!

Second visit, different route. This hill has changed considerably in the past 4 years, and in 4 more years will be very different again. Parked by the wooden gate that blocks the road to the W of the TP, brief and easy walk to the TP, 15 minutes there and back.

Day 8 of 14 Annan to Berwick Walk. First pillar of this hike since Almagill Hill. Kinnel Knock had proved impenetrable, Dumfedling Hill bad weather. I don't have the space to write about the 50 mile journey from Moffat to Hawick except to say wow (and we are still going). From wild camp at Craik to Hawick this one was near the route and accessed via a gate in a high fence near to Branxholm Wester Loch Plantation. Triggers path up. Spider removed - why? - hence the damage but such lovely views from here. Onto flood damaged Hawick now.

Followed the track northward to NT 42942 11746 where a feint path turns westward and continues upward to the visible pillar. Nothing to climb and very easy underfoot.]

Don't be deterred by the high fences and gates and entrance onto the fells. A 15 minute return walk. Pillar commands great views especially to Branxholm Easter Loch. The spider metal top has been completely removed. A chunk of cement lies on the plinth flush bracket side. Mistle Thrush fledglings follow you along the road.

Parked at NT4291611455 next to the new gates. There has been new deer fencing erected all around this field, and the field system over the road. Contractors in the process of preparing the fields for the planting of a new plantation. From the looks of the markers and ground prep the trig will be left in the centre of an open space and an easy walk up to it.
