The trig was sited near the edge of an arable field on the side of a hill in the north of Salisbury. The nearest I got was the adjacent public grassland. The hill was reached from the housing estate to the west and the bridleway that runs along the ridge. The path continues to Old Sarum. From near the trig site the view is to the east over the suburbs of Bishopdown and Laverstock to Laverstock Down the other side of the valley. The city centre and the cathedral spire are to the south; further on fields and woods disappear into a distant haze.
