I also had a search for the Ordnance Survey rivet at the base of the breather pipe on the reservoir one field to the SW but it would require some digging/gardening to uncover it if anyone fancies the challenge!

We approached the minor road from the N at the junction of Hatchet Hill & White Hill and we also left the same way, i.e. we did not drive on the Ridgeway, although that is possible. The Ridgeway is a gravel track with some deep ruts, so we didn't fancy driving our BMW through it! Anyway, back to the trig station: from the layby it's a simple 2 minute walk up the hill to the trig station. Great views from the trig, we could also see our car parked at the layby, which was an added bonus. Trig was in very good condition, centre cap missing with rubbish pushed down the centre tube. It's such a shame that humans can't go anywhere on this Earth without littering it with rubbish. Around this trig were 2 discarded empty Coke cans, 1 beer can and drugs paraphenalia.

The hill is access land and was reached by the Ridgeway and a public road from the car park to the southwest. Ashdown House can be seen to the east; a neighbouring hilltop to the southeast appeared to have a crop circle on its summit and the Ridgeway was lined with numerous blue flowers of what I think are Meadow Crane’s Bill.

This one looks trespassy from the map, but the hill itself is Permissive Access. There were beaters in the field below us, and a deer ran away from them at a rate of knots. Fantastic views from the top. Tarmac plug pushed through.

On the top of a small and unremarkable hill. Evidence of flytipping all around :-(
