OS records the pillar destroyed August 1977. Site redeveloped as Lakesview International Business Park. The trig would have been to the SE of a large industrial unit belonging to Hornby Hobbies. Inside that bldy the manufacture of a number of world famous brands takes place: Hornby, Airfix, Scalextric, Humbrol and Corgi, to name a few.

Called back for a site photo. My GPS also said 20m inside (N of) S fence. Planned to look in hedge but couldnt be bothered - and reading Arnands log am glad I didnt! Expect the site would be cleared prior to construction so stashing trig in hedge less likely in this case.

Going by Griefmiesters log I decided to start my search by going through the copse of trees behind the industrial park. Not a very good idea as very thick vegetation throughout the copse as well as thornbushes & brambles that ended up making me look like a cats scratching post. Besides the nearest reading I got was 20metres away & that was from between the copse & the industrial estate in the direction of one of the industrial units. So after going back onto the industrial estate I asked one of the workers near the closest reading if he knew of any 4 feet concrete pillars around here. He must have thought I was a right nutter especially seeing all the scratches on my arms & head, torn t-shirt and general grubby appearance as he said I could look around & made his escape. GPS took me to exact location behind a portacabin but nothing even remotely promising to indicate its location. This can go down as definetly missing

I think this is possibly an X trig - the site is a new (still under construction) business center, If it is (or the remains of) still around it would be in a thicket behind the business park. I got to within 80 meters from both directions. Earlier maps show a small hillock where the park is now. I think this is worth another go in better weather.
