Another trig got to by car. This is becoming a habit now. Parked by church and walked up the road and then pathway to trig. Lovely sunrise over Gloucester. This trig has not only got a toposcope over its spider but, has been covered in brick work, so cant see FB. Not too sure why this was done. Others that have been topo-ised, have had FB left uncovered (see next log of TP5279). Great views to SW.

Bagged as YSM618 Chosen Hill. Early morning start to finish the last 3 on our mega trig bagging list. Drove up to church and parked. Surprised to see workmen up here this early fitting gravestones, looked hard work! Quick and easy walk over to the converted trigpoint which had lovely views. Very cold and frosty start to the day.

Found as part of the YSM cache series. We had parked near the church and walked up to discover this one. Shame about the modifications but we were blessed with a lovely afternoon with far reaching views over Gloucester.

Have been here a few times in the past but today decided to actually log the trig. Cant confirm if the pillar is there or not but if it is then its encased in stones and been converted to a topograph which in itself is interesting to see just how far from some of the places you can see you are.

I didn't quite know how to log this one. I like to think that the pillar is in there somewhere so decided on converted, We drove up the track as far as we could which due to the season turned out to be the gate of a house. Very limited views in July due to trees.

After seeing Accountant all morning, on way home long way and popped up here. Parked by cemetery and walked to Pillar carefully in leather shoes with no grip, on slippery mud path. Easy find, nice views. Pretty much as everyone said, converted now.

Have not seen this "type" of trig before. Looks like pillar has been encased in brick/stone. Assume Fb is there but unable to see it. Very limited views but what you can see they are far reaching.

Log #153. First trig pillar outside my native borders. Converted trig pillar is now encased in stone, with a Woodland Trust viewfinder in place of the cap and spider. Decent views over Gloucester, but they would be much better with less foliage. [ExP-132/MiP-3/Rev-2/BM-10/IS-5/Other-1]

Parked at the Church and walked along to here, a most unusual pillar with great views of the neighbouring hills, Robins Wood, the Malverns and Painswick Beacon. We then picked and ate many a blackberry!!!

Have chosen (no pun intended) to classify this as converted as there are elements of the original trig pillar here - but it's been changed (hence converted). Drove to the top of Churchdown Hill, parked by the church and walked round the reservoirs to the trig. Wasn't sure I'd found it initially. Good views to be had across Gloucester to the other local hills - Robinswood Hill for example, our next visit.

Cycled all the way up beyond church car park to reservoir entrance. In view up bank. Confused! Thought I was looking at a toposcope and the trig was near by, then found actual toposcope plate has been removed revealing spider and central tube and presumably the trig pillar has been encased in stones. Ends of two of the spider arms have been cut shorter. Despite warm sunny day any views absent due to haze.

Lovely hill as Martin R, Two ways to get to the true summit one choice is to be cheeky and go into the grounds of Chosen cottage. the other is the muddy bank at the back. Did both. Bagged trig and church.

Stunning location, amazing sunset, random collection of people at this remote location - very entertaining!

Beautiful sunset and beautiful company There is a lovely church near here affording stunning views of the Malverns and the Cotswolds

Would be a horrid place when muddy, lucky to visit during a dry spell. Any idea what the FB number was? The toposcope has gone, revealing the pillar within. It had an asphalt cap replacement, now punctured.

I agree with bluebeard - Damaged is about the closest matching condition. Entombed would perhaps be a more accurate description. The spider and two of the hooks are visible, although the spider does seem to be pointing in an odd direction.

[Non-visit log] Confirmation received today from Richard Short at OS - "Chosen Hill was a normal concrete pillar. The Local Parish council got permission from me to erect the topograph on top of our pillar. The pillar and plate was similar to the St Agnes [Beacon] topograph (i.e. a full pillar encased in a stone shell.)"

Someone has "liberated" the viewfinder top plate and there, underneath where it was, the spider is visible. This means the tp is not "definitely missing" but is rather normally hidden from view so I have given it a rating of "damaged".

Having read the previous log i thought i'de better investigate carefully. The foundation is almost curtainly from the trig. The Topo looked a little short for a trig point but then the base looks like it may have been built up a bit. The general shape and size of the stone work could cerrtainly contain a pillar. So i will also log as Possibly missing, it may well reimmerge one day.

Up here today to get the two GeoCaches. Had a long conversation with some Severn-Trent workers on the adjacant water plant and they are quite certain that the current toposcope was built around the original trig pillar. So I have labelled this as 'possibly missing' - because it might be still there! As there isn't a 'present but invisible' description, I think that is the most appropriate one. Glorious morning and fantastic views over Gloucester and The Malverns today.

Great views today. Enjoyed the walk up the hill, but tripoint no more as it looks like its been converted to a toposcope. Note: In light of recent logs and updated info I have changed my log of the Trigs condition to "Damaged".

We parked at the top of the lane that leads to Churchdown 'Church and Burial Ground' in an entrance to one of the reservoirs. The viewfinder makes quite a good substitute for the pillar, with extensive views west.

No pillar, replaced by tourist place/direction pillar. Public area with excellent views. Quite easy to reach after drive up on the single track road According to 'www.deformeweb' this used to be S5303, which makes sence with the trigs nearby
