Absolutely tearing down with rain but trying not to get cabin fever so full metal jacket in waterproofs. Parked on the main road between portree and the storr lochs and hacked up across the moor. Stunning clifftop, looked good even in this weather

HISTORY: Pillar completed 19th September 1957 costing Ģ68.7s.0d. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision tertiary standards during 1958. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NG24/T66 during 1959. Last maintained by the OS in April 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from west. Parked in large layby, east side of A855 at NG491463. A gated track at the south end of the layby leads onto the open hill and it is a straight but tussocky pathless route to the top from there. The full name of this hill is Sėthean a' Bhealach Chumhaing. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces west, compass measurement 260°. Vented through right sight hole. Spectcular 360° panoramic view. A view to die for, literally. Just behind the pillar there is an unguarded drop of 1288ft into the sea.

From west, starting up the water board track for a short distance. Everything was bone dry after a prolonged dry spell, and so this route was fine. Superb view point. Cap intact.

The views towards Raasay and giving a different angled view of Ben Tianavaig are great - sadly the weather caught up with us so it wasn't as clear as we'd have liked to have made the most of them though.
