Parked on moorland at road junction, short walk over wet ground with placid cattle grazing. Pillar has lost its centre cap, composite disc replaces it; RHD sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Extensive flatish moorland views.

2/4 from Brechfa Forest Keeper’s Car Park. Up through good forestry roads and then across the road to the trig which sits next to an interesting cairn that has ‘peace’ written on it in three languages. Pillar in good condition with spider and FB intact. Plug closed as now part of the gps network.

Perhaps I wass influenced after a sunny morning with the sky suddenly clouding over but this moor looking north rates as being bleak, desolate and uninteresting. Thank goodness I drove to the TP and did not make it the objective of a walk.

Found whilst on a delivery run.

The peace monument It is designated as a Peace Monument, created by Brian Denman and erected here in 2007. Inside, it has a time capsule placed there by local schoolchildren and around its rim its message has been chiseled in a number of different languages.

The easiest of the three 'right-next-to-the-road' TPs that I've bagged. Stone-built Peace Monument is beside the 'car park' and the TP is about 50m beyond that, over level, open ground. Weather was rapidly declining, with a strong N wind bringing grey cloud cover. Drove to forest entrance 400m away to start walk to TP Mynydd Rhos Wen. Had bagged TP Gwar-Allt on drive up from Brechfa.

One of the easiest trig points to get to by car: only a few metres aawy from a mountain road that traverses the summit. Nearby, a new mounment has been erected: a round cairn of stones, a metre and half high with tablets with 'peace' written on them set facing the cardinal points. The word is written in English, Welsh, Arabic, and Hebrew. From this location one can see on a clear day right across to the Brecon Beacons.

The new round cairn caught the eye as I drove past, then spotted the trig. Cairn has the word PEACE in four languages, English, Welsh, Hebrew and another unidentified.

Very easy to get to - literally just off the road. The first trig point I've come across that bears modern Ordnance Survey plates stating that it's illegal to vandalise or remove the trig point.
