Great visit to the mighty Cissbury Ring which at 208 acres is the second largest hill-fort in the land (the largest being Maiden Castle in Dorset). In shape Cissbury is an elongated oval, and at the western end of the ramparts is evidence of flint mines from as long ago as the early Stone Age. Phew! Had a good exploration of the site, and almost forgot the trig! Pillar has asphalt cap & one s/h open.
