I had been coming to this site for years, even have vague memories of the trig! The view is still worth it, even if not high up :)

Crossed over the bridge whilst walking from clarach bay to borth via the coastal path. The old bridge looks like it has even replaced so I'm guessing the rivit has long gone.

The foot bridge in the OS photograph has been replaced. There are some chunks of concrete on the pebbly beach where the approach to the bridge used to be but any trace of the rivet have long gone. The bridge looks over the beach out to Cardigan Bay. The rocky cliffs of Constitution Hill are nearby to the south Further on the coastal hills of Cardiganshire and North Pembrokeshire could be seen in the distance. Inland the view is up the steep sided valley with large grassy hills in the distance. The site is on the edge of the Craigyfulfran and Clarach SSSI noted for its geology.

I have a geocache here, well within about 20 meters, popped back here to check on the cache and spot the bolt. TFTT

View from the Bridge I love this spot, I have a cache very close to this stud.

I was told the new bridge was erected in 2003 and has completely obliterated the old approach which included the trig. Nice cup of tea at the cafe though!

Yes, the OS sketch/photo shows this to be on the old bridge which has now been removed in favour of a new concrete structure which is part of road re-development and the ubiquitous McDonald's/industrial estate/warehouse development on the edge of Aberystwyth.
