Fifth and final of the day, and only circular walk. Parked at the Kerr's Port car park and up to the farm, over the stile, across two fields, a short bridle path and up the fort to the TP, well seen all the way up. Very straight forward. Descended along the cliff path to Clauchlands path. The descent seemed remarkably greater than the ascent...felt like I'd stepped into the drawing of a perpetual staircase by MC Ecsher! On a cloudless day the views from here must be breath taking. Clauchland Hill looks pretty forlorn after timber felling, hopefully it will be replanted with a better mix of native species. Come back in 30 years time!

OK to park by house at NS 04665 33136. Right of way is over a stile by cottage according to farmer but I couldn't find it and had to climb fence to exit field, even though by this time my GPS showed I was on the ROW. I returned via gate at NS 04463 33214 and had to walk thru' farmyard. Farmer OK but couldn't understand why I couldn't find the stile. Currently logging on C.Hills and the lovely footpath up is devastated in parts, blocked by felled trees and brash

YSM0458 Clauchland. Really should have gone back to the hostel as it was starting to get dark! Drove up the road and parked near a house, headed up the road, past the farm, over the style and into the mud bath! Didn't pay enough attention to the direction of the path and went too far up and had to come back down which really annoyed me, eventually out of the mud bath and on a much better path up to the trig, which shone out in the dusk with is lovely freshly painted exterior. Last bit up to the trig was a slog as I was shattered.com. Great views over to Holy Island.

What a fantastic walk - from minor road near Lamlash, then along the point before a slow rise to Clauchland Hills (sub-Marilyn by the way) before visiting the grassy walls of the dun. Grey hangs over the mountains but in a sun spot away from the NW winds. Last Arran walk (great shame) before a bit of the Southern Uplands on the way home...

Not as exciting as other photo posts....
Goat Fell (of course)

View of Holy Island - the trig that got away - that said got told off for standing on a water snail last time I visited - so I'll avoid for now!

What a difference a year makes to a coat of paint on the coast! Not quite so bright and white today, I guess it hasn't had it's annual spruce up yet. We picked up this trig after visiting Holy Island, but whereas Clauchlands didn't look very impressive from Holy Island, the reverse is the opposite. Holy Island looks stunning from Clauchlands! And good views to the higher mountains to the NW too. Loctaed on an iron age hill fort overlooking the sea, this would have been an imposing sight to would be attackers from the mainland. The pillar is sound; 1 sight hole open; original cap in place; FB painted black. We parked in the carpark at the end of the minor road from Lamlash and walked along the coast, up onto the cliffs and followed the path directly to the trig, returning via Clauchlands Farm for a pleasant 4km walk.
