Walked up from one of the Southern car parks of Clocaenog forest (Boncyn Foel Fach). The walk was an enjoyable forest walk, about 12km round trip along the tracks up to the trig pillar which is pretty easy to find. If walking isn't your thing it is more easily accessible from the Pincyn Llys car park (short walk). Great views across the Clwydians including Moel Famau!

Weather-wise, I may not have picked the best day to visit this pillar, but regardless, the views were still splendid. Parking couldn't be better, there is a car park just five hundred yards down from the pillar and there is a good path that takes you through part of the forest and right up to the pillar and monument. So, in actual fact, is was a good choice for today, long journey though, round trip was just over one hundred miles.

Yes, quite an amazing memorial about 15 yards to the West. A really colourful near view of heather, gorse and rowan. There is a concrete plug replacement. The East sighthole is open, the rest closed. The base isn't visible and the pillar is quite squat in the grass. There are only slight traces of paint. The views in the eastern semicircle are really good, but the woods obscure the rest.
