I know I have visited this pillar before but can I find a record or photograph to say when, no I can't. I decided as it fitted in with other plans, to revisit on my way home from Contlaw. The bus connected nicely from Aberdeen and it is just 2 miles from the bus stop (although not the most interesting of walks now. Cap missing but otherwise in good condition.

Nice walk up from road bend at NO 890986. Currently very difficult to access this point on the road due to the new A90 route - many roads mapped as crossing the dual carriageway are now dead ends.Took ages to muddle my way thru' and sorry to not have a clue how.

Log #525. Ah, the famous Clochandighter! Quick walk up from car park to NW, ugly stubby mast and covered reservoir on either side of the trig. Some views to north, but dominated by the pristine new bypass. [ExP-361/MiP-38/Rev-6/BM-41/IS-52/Other-27]

Parked beside the Clochandighter Forest sign just off the new by pass, to the NW of the trig. Plenty of parking. Lovely path through the forest led easily to the trig. Good views to the north.

Hardest part was finding somewhere to park! Opted for opposite the gate. Easy walk up a great path, as per previous log cap missing, trig between truncated mast and reservoir. Visited nearby memorial which has a rivet on the top. Also visit farm shop, lovely ice cream!

Nice walk up a decent track to the south. Pillar sandwiched between an ugly covered water tank and former radio mast. Nice and quite on a Sunday afternoon but a long line of parked dump trucks and excavators working on the new bypass just to the north mean that the peace won't last long. Shame.

Lots of new-build hereabouts with a massive industrial estate (Badentoy Park) and housing nearby encroaching towards this iconic triggers' hill. Should this have been allowed to happen?! But I enjoyed the stroll and the views. Pillar fine, open cap, and one sight-hole open.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 4th September 1949 costing 14.4s.0d. In 1950 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NO89/10 in the Aberdeen block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1952. This marker was last maintained by the OS in September 1973. A walk in the dark. Was up in Aberdeen on business. Next day I told a group of a dozen or so Aberdonians that I had climbed to the summit of Clochandighter the previous night. Blank looks of astonishment from all, not one of them had heard of it. I showed it to them on the map, they never knew it existed. GRP, Weds 11th March 1987.
