Climbed in thick, grey cloud using the path through the gap in the crags which was clear once found. The shelter must rate as the most pathetic effort Ive seen as you need to lie down to use it.

Bagged while on a Queens Scout Expedition. Joe and I ran up Clough Head to get a photo of the Trig, while the rest of our team had lunch at the bottom. This is a really nice stone built Trig Point, it is surrounded by a pile of local stones which resembled the remains of a wind shelter.

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! Date is estimated but map notes record: "Went up on a blustery, sunny afternoon after a very wet morning. 3 and a half hour round trip. A bit of a slog up the NE ridge, then some scree running on the way down. Fab views all the way round of Skiddaw and Blencathra."
