The Bowland Dozen visits all 12 trig points of 400+ metres in a tour of the Bowland massif, one of England's last wilderness areas. It starts at Dunsop Bridge, but for reasons I started further west at Abbeysteads. No problems reaching this pillar (1/12) from Jubilee Tower car park. The 12 trig points visited are gifted to places and memories. The maps I am using are from 2010 when I had intentions of doing it at one pop, 50 miles in under 24 hrs. The maps were given and that certain person did it in under 24 hrs. C E is a remarkable woman and her memory was with me today.

Out with my walking group, The Irregulars, LDWA, and our leader brought us up from Jubille Tower to the top of Grit Fell and then turned east. So, being so near to this pillar and a cache Applepye and myself just had to turn west to visit them. It was an awful August day to be playing this game. Cold, wet windy and misty. So today it was just a place to get to, touch and get away from. And that's what we did.

Condition should no doubt be Slightly Damaged, based on vandalism of spider, but at least the hill finder plate has been removed - now just a heavily scratched flat sheet painted white at some point. Came up from Abbeystead and along the fine 4WD shooters track as far as crags to the north east then short hop across the heather to find the summit. Lovely and sunny down in the valley, but cold and brisk on top, path out to Grit Fell was a swamp in places.
