Eventually found 'tramlines' through crop, which took me to within a few metres from trig which is in a little gassy island Spider has OS metal cap.

Dashed along tramlines like some manic Pac-man to get this one, don't know what the constant stream of motorists on the nearby A171 thought. Pillar still in decent condition and nice to see one of these mid-field pillars still standing.

Picked on the way to a day's walking on the Cleveland Way. Very easy to locate and access, but newly ploughed field meant some very muddy boots.

Passing by, so stopped for a re-bag as the crop that prevented access on last visit was harvested and clear tram lines in newly seeded field led straight to the pillar. All intact

HISTORY: Pillar completed 12th April 1951 costing 12.7s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE97/T65 in 1954. Levelled for height in 1959. Last maintained by the OS, 15th August 2000. SITE VISIT: Approached from west. Parked on verge, west side of unclassified road SE989966. In arable field, crossed field carefully following routes of tramlines to avoid damage to growing crops. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~252. Vented through NE sight hole. Open view to south remaining skyline is trees or higher ground.

Pulled up to do the near by Geocache, when I spotted the trig in the ajacent field. As you can see from photos, quite a lot of snow about, and had to clear off flush plate to record number. A bit bleak today, but clear day with good views, so I gave it a 9.

Easily spotted in field. Visible from A171 and accessible from the side road running South from the junction. Trig stands proud on a mound in the centre of the field. I could cross the field easily at this time of year but I suspect the crop will make access difficult if not impossible in summer.
