Trig in excellent condition. No damage and all parts intact. Views out to Bowmore and Port Charlotte over the Loch.

With Clochandighter. Approached from junction of roads to southwest. The minor road is shown in yellow on some maps but had been degraded to a gated track. Followed said track to where an obvious path to the right climbs eastwards along the ridge of the escarpment. This is a direct route but be mindful of the overhanging turf above the quarried edges.

My sixth Islay trig. Wonder if I'll ever come back to get some more.....? I'd like to but there are so many lovely looking islands to explore. Stopped at Bowmore's Whisky shop on the way to the ferry wistfully hoping to find an affordable bottle of Port Ellen. Cheapest was £675. The bottle I bought 20 years ago for £99 was on the shelf at £3750!!

I began the morning at An Cladach bothy and visited this trig pillar on my way to Port Charlotte youth hostel. I climbed over the first gate and walked the full length of the little ridge, passing over a couple more gates on my way. The trig was an interesting interlude in a long day road walking, but really couldn’t warrant a better score due to its lowly stature. Also, the S9000 was still to elude me...
