OS records destroyed October 1968. Pillar would have been where the road Trem Elai now runs, at Penarth Heights, a Crest Nicholson development. Early morning visit so no photo.

I knew what to expect before going to this trig but as I was just around the corner I thought I'd go and have a look. The road by the flats is now closed to traffic and pedestrians, there was also workmen on the site who turned people back who were walking into the area so I didnt go right up to where the trig was suppose to be. The views are great from the location, I can see a bit of development on the cards for the old flats. If you're in the area its worth a look for the views over Cardiff but looking at the flats is another story.

If you mark this for view over the bay it would be about a 6, but taking the boarded up flats into account I think a 2 is generous. Litter collectors were out, which made me laugh. Couldn't get right up to trig location due to fence, but it must have been demolished when the flats were built. There sure are some eyesores round what was obviously once a lovely neighbourhood. Funny how they get all the good views too. As everyone else has said, this land must be worth a fortune now. Wish I had shares.

I'm sorry maybe its the sun today but the view over the bay has got to be worth at least a 6 compared to some of the nondescript English farmland trigs as to the flats the words developmnt opportunity spring to mind

Probably the most depressing trig site I have visited to date. Blocks of boarded up abandoned flats. Would look much better grassed over with a trig point on top. Probably an expensive bit of real estate with its views over Cardiff Bay.
