HISTORY: Pillar completed 17th July 1948 costing £12.14s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD74/T17 in 1948. Levelled for height in 1961. Last maintained by the OS in April 1966. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Parked NE side of road, north of junction at SD601442, same parking for Fair Snape Fell. Walked roads to SD604438 then RoW network to trig. Pillar leaning forwards possible due to subsidence of foundation, additional concrete to support base added. Also appears to have taken a hit from a farm vehicle. Spider retains original centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces northwest, ~325°. All sight holes open, innards filled with debris. 315° panoramic outlook with remainder centred on southwest blocked by trees around farm buildings. Also tree adjacent to pillar obstructs smaller portions of panorama.
