Arriving at the pull-in we (Jack Rustles and me) saw a pile of branches over where we thought the surface block would be. I got a tape measure out to confirm the location and sure enough it was there. We started to lift the load and the surface block was soon found.

With Orlando's Rat, covered in hedge trimmings in the form of a large pile of sticks. With the aid of a measuring tape, we confirmed that the block was in the middle of the pile! After clearing them away it was a reasonably easy bag.

I varied my route on the way down from the Midlands to Cardiff to grab this one. The stone and tile covering it were still in place but the grass and roots were once again trying their best to take it over. I took my photo and then replaced the tile and stone. The finger post seen in some of the older photos has now been replaced and moved a bit so the older photos can be misleading.

After a visit to the nearby Teme Valley farmers market at The Talbot we decided to head off to Ludlow, via what I thought would be a most tricky YOSM, having looked at photos on trigpointinguk.com for further details. We arrived and found the long thick grass as expected, but thankfully when I moved the grass the large hole that had been dug by a previous finder was still there, with the rivet (more like surface block) was covered by a quarry tile and a brick, to prevent the earth taking over and covering it again, so thank you whoever you are who made this a nice easy find, just before than rain came down, again...

My gpsr at the rivet (surface block?) The earth is starting to cover it again, but the quarry tile and brick should help future searchers.©gaz_zippy

Had visited this one previously with no find, but since I was planning to pass again I read through previous logs and previous photos which gave me a good idea of where to start looking. I was also armed with a trowel and a walking pole as I was determined to be successful this visit! Thus it didnt take long before my pole hit something hard in the long grass, revealing the tile covering this surface block [my gratitude to whoever left the tile!]. Also logged as YSM392.

Q: When is a rivet not a rivet? A: When it's a bolt! This looks to me like a bolt inserted into a lump of concrete - but isn't that a surface block? I don't know why the OS decided to categorize this SB as a rivet. Either way, it was easy enough to locate using the OS sketch. Approx 6" beneath loose soil; previous loggers have done the hard work in excavation.

Go to TUK and pull up sketch, pace it out a few times, shift some debris, prod again, and there it is about a foot down from initial ground level.

Had a wonderful walk on the Worcestershire Way over Suckley Hill, then a pint of Hookey in 'The Fox' at Lulsley. Thus fortified, came with long handled trowel and OS sketch determined to succeed! This was actually my third visit here [I never bothered to log the second] and, having arrived, it was obvious that some serious digging had taken place since Visit 2. I concentrated on the dug areas to no avail, so, in the absence of a tapemeasure, I lay down flat on the ground to use myself as a distance measure, then started again. After 30 minutes, several bad nettle stings and two equally nasty blisters.....BINGO!! I have dug it all out and it's in pristine condition, so any visitors in the near future should have no problem locating it. If you stand by the side of the footpath notice, facing in the direction of the arrow, then it's about 18" from the base of the post to your left. Good hunting! It's very satisfying to lay a ghost......
