Very cold strong wind for this time of year. Though even still a really enjoyable linear walk exploring the peaceful northern Cheviot outliers in finding my way back to Wooler hostel after setting out from Hethpool in the morning.

Completed a circular walk that included Broadhope & Blackseat Hill and started with a climb up to Cold Law. A bit breezy, but well worth the effort as great views across Wooler Common and towards Hedgehope Hill in sunny conditions.

Parked on grass verge at Carely Burn Bridge. Headed west via Coronation Wood to fence junctions at nt957247. Then SW via Carling Crag to summit. Pillar in pristine condition, however spider plug is missing. Bitterly cold west wind so didn't hang around too long. Blue sky fantastic views. Evidence of storm Arwen between Skirl Naked and Yearle.

My fourth visit, same route to the TP as my third visit, same route back to start as my second visit. Parked by Carey Burn Bridge and took tracks W then SW; returned E along the grouse butts. There's loads of options with this hill, and they are all great! Patchy views today, but a great walk to a favourite Trig Point ~~ 04/01/13 First Visit - Walked with 'Bobby', my partner's venerable old Golden Retriever. "Don't take her too far"...I never did let on about this walk! For a very old girl, the dog did fantastically well and was a lot fitter than she was given credit for. Walked from the Hawsen Burn to the top of Broadhope Hill then east to Cold Law. Great views from this hill, one that bears repeat visits!.

When you can see the Cheviot it's a sign of bad weather, as it is when you can't see it. From a black rumble to grey cloud licked. Thankfully when the deluge really kicks in we're giggling in the car at Wooler Common, car slightly rocking in the wind. Last one alas before we decamp southwards.

12/08/17 Rosie's 2nd Visit. We took Blue along with us, probably the longest walk that wee dog ever did. Parked by the Carey Burn and walked up via Steely Crags. Not shown on any map yet is the extension of the bulldozed track that now leads to just below the summit, an obtrusive scar on the landscape, inflicted on the landscape to aid rich knobs in the pursuit of slaughtering wildlife...Arriving at the summit late in the evening surprised to find a photographer camped out by the TP, hoping to film the Perseid Meteor shower. Thoroughly nice chap called Andy. Hope this site inspires him to take up Trig Pointing and to log his visits. ~~ 29/12/13 Rosie's 1st Visit and just 2nd TP. Glorious clear day, fabulous views. Walked from the Carey Burn to Broadstruther then south to the col between Broadhope Hill and on to Cold Law.

Using the permissive track from spot height 168 to ENE, marked path disappears as it leaves the fence line. Instead there is a path along the line of the grouse butts from NT959240 (close to the stile)

Parked at the bottom of the western track and followed a decent track to the pillar, then followed the fence line to Broadhope Hill and on to The Cheviot. Newly erected signage and plenty of footpaths and bridleways. Great spot and decent views.

Excellent walk from Hethpool to Wooler via Broadhope Hill and Cold Law. My wife and daughter had walked with me to Dunsdale in the College Valley before returning to Hethpool and to have afternoon tea in Wooler to await my arrival about an hour later.

Despite the forecast for wall to wall sunshine we were met with lowering cloud and rain showers although it did clear later. Great little walk up to this one with good views even today.

Great 12 mile walk taking in Cold Law trig, Broadhope Hill, The Cheviot trig, Comb Fell (very boggy) and Hedgehope Hill trig, lovely and sunny, great views and another county top.

Third of the day and for me the best. Great views over to the coast and westward to Hedgehope and back towards The Cheviot. Grey cloud of the day disappearing and replaced by blue sky and warm sun. Wet underfoot from Cheviot but bearable especially with the thought of dry socks and shoes waiting in the car.

Revisit. For photographs and GPS reading. Pillar in good condition with fairly recent white repaint. Spider centre open, OS plug stolen since my original visit of 1997. Flush bracket faces NNE, ~13°. Vented through SE and SW sight holes. Full 360° panorama includes Hedgehope Hill and the Cheviot.

Walked along Happy Valley and then up to this trig. Continued onto Broadstruther where we came across a rather large black and blue adder slithering through the grass. Wonderful sight, excellent walk.

Harthope Valley road now open so we parked at Carey Burn Bridge and walked through the superb Carey Burn Valley. This is very rocky and most unCheviot-like! Then we went to Broadstruther, up Broadhope Hill and onto Cold Law before dropping back down to the car. Some good views and enjoyed a sarnie in the sun on the flanks of Broadhope Hill.

Parked at Commonburn car park (Harthope Valley road was shut). Walked over Wooler Common, crossed Carey Burn and ascended Cold Law via Carling Crags. Another fine but very windy day, more so than last time. Went on to Broadhope Hill, dropped downn to Broadstruther and returned to car. A lovely walk and superb views from the trig.

Can't believe I haven't been here for 2 years! Did this on a clear but windy day starting at the Harthope Valley and climbing Broadhope Hill, decending to Broadstruther and climbing to Cold Law. Cracking views to coast, south and Harthope Valley. Also good views of other Cheviot Hills such as Cheviot, Hedgehope and Wester Tor.

Last maintained by the OS in September 1978. Spider retained stamped deep font OS centre cap then, since stolen. Flush bracket faces NNE. Bagged this one on the way to The Cheviot.
