Parked at the bottom of the track to the quarries. Easy walk up the track to the trig. Didn't spend to long poking about in the old quarries and rail siding.

Walked from the café at Parkhead Station along the track. Trig point is behind a fence which I had to climb over to bag it. Dog dog used the nearby cairn to assist her! A footpath runs parallel to the fence all the way back to the café but I soon ended up bog trotting so I ended up heading back down to the track and retracing my steps.

Roadside verge parking on B6278 to WNW (NY 9983 4245). Good vehicle track all the way. Original centre cap missing, composite plug replacement; RHD side sight hole open. Extensive moorland views.

My second visit, the first in June 19 ruined as the cloud dropped as we approached ruining any chance of appreciating the tremendous and extensive views. Not so today, as clear and bright as you could wish for, albeit cold and windy. The views more than compensated. Same route as previous, nice and easy from the B6278 to the W and along the good track past the old quarries. 50 minutes there and back, just under 3 miles.

Approached from the south west along the line of the former rope-drawn railway to Weatherhill Engine then the track through the quarry. First of four pillars with lots of hold-ups and road closures due to the Tour of the Reservoir cycle race.

Cafe at Crawleyside - parking and refreshment opportunities. Standing at this trig provides panoramic views. Purple heather just waning. For the mining buff plenty to explore.

Cycled from Park Head CP - good off-road track all the way to trig. Pillar has slight damage at two edges, but overall condition is good. Very good 360deg views.

Approached from the main road to the west. Heavy snow showers blowing through all day made it bitterly cold up on the fells. Footprints in the snow showed someone had been up to the pillar shortly before us. Any remains of the adjacent mast were lost beneath the snow. Superb views across the landscape in between the snow showers.

Revisit: Walked over from Crawleyside road, past the quarries. There's a broken millstone abondoned on the moor just before the trig. Adjacent old mast is no more, replaced by a newer, slimmer version. Good views up the dale.

walked up cross county from weatherhill engine. Followed access track on way back. Big Mast looks as though its out of use, although not marked on my map a smaller mast to the west looks newer and functional

One sighting hole open. Plug replaced by resin cover. Views across Weardale. Sheep had ignored the 'no trespassing' sign and found a way into the mast compound. Trig gets an extra point for being one of the 'No S prefix' on the FB number.

Approached from west. Parked just off B6278 by Weatherhill Engine at NY997423. Up, anti clockwise around Millstone Quarry edge then followed mast track to summit. Column in good condition. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown resin. 2GL flush bracket faces 293° WNW. Vented through southmost sight hole.

Accessible and highly visible. I parked on the road near the old quarries and walked up the quarry track, though litter and dumpings to radio masts. The pillar is just behind the higher mast. It is in good condition with plastic resin plug. Extensive moorland views spoiled by the nearness of the aging mast complex.

I parked on the road (B6278) by a public footpath sign and could see the transmitter mast just over the brow of the hill. The footpath was totally invisible so I headed straight for the transmitter. The trig point was just behind the compound. It's in generally good condition but the centre plug is missing and the hole filled with what looks like a brown 'potting resin'. The views are not spectacular, just a lot of heather moorland.
