Second of three en route to Dungeness. Had to forge a new path across a recently ploughed field but fortunately hasn't rained here for weeks so not a problem. Trig enjoys good (if hazy) views of North Downs, but rather flat brow of hill in other directions (trig not on highest point). Significant erosion around base, and all s/holes open, but otherwise very good condition, metal cap shallow letters.

Parked on verge at TR0382938350 and walked up public footpath towards top of hill. Pillar is buried in a 'sea of yellow' oilseed rape crop at the moment and is hidden from view. Colliers Hill entered the history books on 24th March 1943 in WW2 when a dozen or so FW190s and ME109s of the Luftwaffe used the hill as cover for their approach before their devastating raid on Ashford.

Easy walk along footpath from the South East, then short diversion to pillar, all in good condition although it is getting eroded at the base and looks as if it could fall over in the not to distant future - nice quiet area farmland view.

Parked to the south and climbed the hill following the edge of the field in freezing driving wind and lashing rain, in shorts and hoodie. The mud was slippery walking out to the lonely pillar and the umbrella I used for shelter almost whisked me away down the hill again. Oh the things we do for these little fellows... I agree with the previous logger that the condition of the base means this should be logged as slightly damaged. But only slightly....

Closest pillar to my childhood home. 20+ years and I never discovered these objects of curiosity until I started roaming the Peak District !! Short stroll up the hill in some welcome late summer sunshine. Field had recently been ploughed so no trouble spotting this one. Logged as slightly damaged because there was a hole in the concrete at the bottom corner of the pillar (which was large enough to fit my thumb in). Metal cap still in place on the top though !! Views across to Ashford were OK but Colliers Hill is little more than a mole hill compared to the Peak District where I now spend my days.

I parked just off the road at the northern end of the footpath and had a pleasant walk up the hill in the sunshine. The field was just freshly ploughed stubble so there was no problem with spotting the pillar or with access to it. The pillar is in very good condition and all the metalwork is in place. The views over the surrounding countryside are nice without being spectacular. This was the 4th of 7 trigpoints visited today. For those that bother with such things, this is YSM096.

Colliers Hill is 'our local'. I was surprised to discover a hill of this size in this particular locality, and that's a good thing about Trigpointing -- you find places, even in your own neighbourhood, that you never knew existed ! Footpath sign and stile on road, but footpath not apparent and surprisingly 'boggy' considering incline. Footpath and tracks in field well-defined all the way to trig.
