Heading west from Aldworth towards Compton, road runs level for about half a mile, immediately before the road sign indicating steep hill descent, place to pull in on left beside gate, although seems to be popular with fly tippers, unfortunately. Marked down for that reason. Tidied up a bit although didn’t like to get too near the disgusting debris left lying around. Good views to south over gate.

Easy to find in field gateway that provided space to park. As others have previously commented, this area appears to be popular with fly tippers. Pillar in good condition with a little vegetation covering FB which was easily cleared.

My 100th Trig Pillar logged and managed to arrange it for this Pillar at Compton where I lived until I was 6 years old. Had to do quite a bit of pruning as the bushes & Ivy were covering the Pillar.

My first trig bag, hidden in a layby on a road I use for my journey home from work when the M4's all snarled up. Never even noticed it here until someone told me about trig pillars and I started looking for them. Easy bag, and surprisingly good view from the gate next to it. I was adamant when I bagged this one that it would *not* be the start of a thing. I'm typing this up eighteen months and 63 trigs later.

Cycled up the hill from Compton. Quite hard work. Trig Point an easy one by side of the road. Not very interesting at all and no views to speak of. Its wasnt raining but the vegetation around it was very wet.

Driving along the lane on route to ? and suddenly this trig point was spotted beside the gateway - luckily we could stop and reverse into the gateway! TP in reasonable condition but surrounded by rubbish [just why do people do this?]. Countryside views over gateway. 19.12.21 stopped here to find the geocache sited here (no luck) but chuffed to have found a trig point instead! Now l find that l had found this before in 2015, but l have uploaded a photo taken today.

Originally planned to include this in our walk onwards from Lowbury Hill but glad we didn't as a) the setting was not worth the effort (lots of rubbish) and b) the road is pretty lethal. So drove to it instead. Good views south from adjacent gate but trig itself in vegetation. Rough concrete cap, N and S s/hole open, pillar is tilting but will survive for a while.

Roadside trig point in a layby, i.e. you can park a few feet from the trig. No rubbish of any sort seen today. The location was a bit overgrown, so I got out the garden shears and tidied it all up so that the trig point is now clearly visible and stands proud, as it should be! In good condition with a rough concrete centre plug.

A roadside trig with space to pull in off the minor road. Trig has a lot of fly-tipped rubbish strewn around it, not very pleasant. Pillar itself is in good condition but has developed a pronounced tilt; cap missing, rough cement plug; front & rear sight holes open. Good views S to rolling farmland.

Easy to find at the top of the hill and we parked in the layby mext to it. Despite previous reports of rubbish we did not see any.

Doesn't Applepie Hill sound full of country promise? Sad to relate that this trigpoint was hidden within scrubby bushes where no views were possible, and surrounded by assorted litter. I suppose,back in the thirties when this pillar was constructed, there were then unobstructed views......

Not a pleasant walk to this trig., along the busy road from Compton. At GZ lots of rubbish around the pillar did not add to the experience. However, the pillar was reasonably well protected from the elements and featured a Geocache as well. Nice views from the field nearby helped.

One of the least attractive TPs you might wish to visit. Good views from the adjacent gateway (blocked by farm machinery) but the pillar is buried in a hedge surrounded by rubbish. Plug filled with concrete and all my photos show the pillar leaning slightly but not sure if that's actuality.

A good trig if you just want a quick 'bag' but the 'very close to the road location' is rather ruined by the 'middle of a hedge' detail. No views of anything! Simon took the photo as we couldn't both climb into the hedge! Smon, Me. 65m

In the hedge....... Easy to find, easy to see, not so good for views!

Pity about the fly-tipping around the pillar. Whilst we were there a local very vigilant resident stopped to check that we weren't offloading junk.
