As I was in the area I thought I'd revisit with GPS and 1m grid ref from OS website, not expecting to find the trig. GPS pointed to back garden of No 32 (20m back from front of house, so would have been pretty close to house). Knocked on the door: owner said it <was> in back garden of next door, No 34: no longer there. I think the implication was that it was removed at time of construction, 1966: would maybe have been too close to house. I didn't go next door to check. It was pleasing to find someone who remembered the trig. NB, nearest town is Brownhills, not Brown Hills :-) Photo added 2012.

The grid reference is of the house, No.28 Branchall Road. This is a 1960s development and would have been an ideal site. I expect if anything was there, the house builders got it.
