Ten trigs bagged on the way to and around Buxton with a total of thirteen miles hiked for the day. I got the last two in a 7.2 mile hike of the Buxton area. This was the first of them. The pillar is accessed y walking through Corbar Woods on the outskirts of Buxton. Once out of the woods continue to follow the PROW to the top of the hill. The pillar is adjacent to a huge cross with both overlooking the town. The pillar is in good condition and retains the original centre for the spider.

Approached this trig from the rear, came off Combs Moss via Lightwood Reservoirs (that were) and finally descended into Corbar Woods. Although Corbar Hill is approximately 1 km from where I live, I felt the dog needed a more substantial walk whilst still dry out there. Made me think that we go running off collecting trig points all around the country that we forget about the ones on our very doorstep. Likewise, in the era of social media we collect many "friends" (who dont know us and never will). So I gift Corbar Hill to our old friends, check both out regularly.

Easily found from Corbar Lane by walking uphill through Corbar Woods. Top of pillar and its attendent cross are soon visible after breaking cover from the trees. A pleasant location with wide 360 views on a clear if rather breezy day. Grinlow Tower easily visible to the South of Buxton. Shame about the TV mast over towards Brown Edge but if you choose your angles carefully you can hide it from view when taking photos. Top of the pillar is a little gnarled but otherwise in good order with all original metalwork present.

April 5th and all the all the passes had been closed due to heavy snow fall the previous day – but it looked like being a good day for a walk with sun and only light winds. Parked in Corbar Road and walked up through the woods – plenty of snow about with drifting.
