I've only just heard recently about this cache, some folks where talking about it on a the West Midlands Geocachers Facebook group. Well this one is only fifteen minutes from where I live so thought let's go for it. There are no numbers identifying it and it was very easy to find at the side of the road with a car park very conveniently located almost directly opposite. I've got to award a favourite point here as it adds a new dimension to caching. I'll definately be doing some more of these fellas. It's also only my second virtual cache with my first, found some time ago, being probably less than a quarter of a mile away on top of Barr Beacon

A roadside surface block ( or rivetÖ the terms seem to be interchangeable). This one had previously been reported as being dug up and dumped on the verge a few feet away from itís original position. It may be that itís now been put back by someone as itís now buried as to be expected and my 60CSx showed it to be very close (within 1 metre) to the quoted co-ordinates. There is room to park a car a few yards up the road on the opposite side.

I quickly found a deep depression, and assumed I would find the Bolt at the bottom of it. I then had no joy with my tent peg. I remeasured from the OS plan to assure myself of the location. Still no joy - I was in the right place. I then noticed a concrete block dumped a few feet away by the side of the road. Clearing some grass revealed the bolt in the middle of the no-longer horizontal block. Clearly someone has dug the block out and dumped it (why oh why I know not). Current location a few feet south of the position on the OS plan (the road runs NW-SE), significantly closer to the road than it should be. Note there is no longer a layby at this point on the road. Parking a short distance away on the other side of the road (the fly-tippers have moved there).

I read the recent log from of the successful bag by Lathma so decided to pay another visit to this bolt. Even armed with a tape measure it took me 30 minutes to find but eventually I had success. I remember seeing the windscreen on my last visit. It is hard to give any hints to other visitors other than bringing the OS map and tape measure. At the present time it is in line with a log in the hedge but this is a movable object and not much good as a long term hint. Good luck to everyone else.
