frustrating walk with brother Anthony all around the perimeter of the reservoir compound with chain link fence everywhere... However on north side clearly someone had cut the fence from bottom up to about three feet, which had been re-fixed... Only held together with plastic ties...!

En route home from an errand to Poole, on a beautifully sunny evening. Excellent views down Poole Harbour from nearby Upton Heath viewpoint made up for absence of trig point. Circumnavigated the reservoir compound but no access nor any sign of trig (although I did subsequently find it on Google Earth, no wonder you can't see it from the perimeter). Atop the large covered reservoir, access a little tricksie but was able to go up and over double width gate at N corner of the compound. Pillar is a little tatty, original cap missing, no plug; LHD side sight hole open. Some views W but mostly limited by mature vegetation growing on and around the reservoir.

Trig point is within the reservoir area controlled by Wessex Water. This is surrounded by a fence and barbed wire and there is no means of access. The location is a high viewpoint that overlooks Upton Heath, Poole and Purbeck. Unfortunately the rubbish dump spoils the view considerably.
