Drove up cement road track from A595.Gained permission to park car and walk up to trig. Pillar is nestled up against a stone wall in pasture field. Spider top and core intact. Great views and blue clear sky adds value to this pillar.

Bit of a convoluted route to get here after roadside verge parking (SD 1150 9066). Took a RoW through Corney Farm to SD 1094 9072, then over a wall/stock fencing, across a pasture and over a wall as trig is on E side. Pillar retains original centre cap, deeply indented lettering; LHS sight hole open, rear plug degrading. Extensive views.

Revisit: Approached from west. Parked east side of A595 at SD101905 just south of farm entrance. Direct route via farm track to farmyard with kind permission of farm owners. Backtracked southeast through gate, and around field. Pillar on east side of wall, edge of grazing field. Column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces north, compass measurement 2°. Vented through east sight hole. Full 360° panoramic open outlook.

Drove up farm track and met farmer in the yard, farmer was very helpfull and suggested we drive round the back of his sillage clamp to save walking the final 200M. His landrover might be capable of such terrain.....we decided to walk. Located on field boundary surrounded by barley

S5638 Farmer gave permission to drive to this point, although lower part of track steep and covered in mud heavily broken up concrete

Asked the lady at the farm to the north if it was okay to park by her house for half an hour. Son Jamie and I walked south through the woods, I picked up a few pocketfulls of interesting pine cones along the pretty overgrown track before emerging into the open field across the Corney Hall farmyard and up into the trig field. made a 'spider' trig top mandala with the cones. 50 little coneys sitting on a trig. Didn't realise at time of visit this FB number is part of the Birthday trig walk list of my Jamie's mum (5.6.'38 her 68th birthday trig!!)

Drove up the surfaced track and parked in angled gateway. Over the gate, up along the edge of field and bear right at the top. Very good all round views on day of visit.

Walked up farm track which is tarmac after the first hundred yards ( I would have driven up had I known) its a long track over one field cows and tough looking sheep and over wall using water trough and up to the Trig

We parked at the entrance to the track and walked along the footpath towards Corney Hall. As we reached the copse on the right I headed up the field and then hopped into the next field via a very convenient cattle trough. Pillar is just east of the wall. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed in September 1949 costing £7.19s.0d. In 1952 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NY11/T14 in the Workington secondary block. Flush bracket S5638 was levelled for height also in 1952. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in November 1976. Spider still retained OS centre cap with stamped lettering by 3/07/1991.

Pillar with little more than a suggestion of white paint in pasture by wall with view of Black Combe. Drove along track to Corney Hall with the intention of going up from there, but was spotted by a man, so I asked him about the condition of the road into Corney, before retreating a bit and then slipping up to the pillar.
