Drove up farm track and parked next to pillar, good turning space beyond. Getting back onto the main carriageway tricky, had a look along the road for a break in traffic, dived back into car and pulled out... would be a lot easier with 2 people. But I digress... the pillar sits on a high plinth that elevates it to top of the hedge bank. Cleared away a lot of vegetation and soil build up round the base. Minor chipping to one top corner. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; LHD side sight hole open. Good views.

Heading west towards Newquay on the A392 about three quarters of a mile west of White Cross on the south side of the road is a lay-by, near the highest point of the road. Didn’t fancy trying the track as fast moving traffic and muddy entrance. Walked east along the verge for about seventy five metres but then it became too narrow and it’s quite a busy road so climbed over the embankment into the field. To continue east. At field boundary headed south. After about a hundred metres pillar is on top of the embankment on plinth. Quite a lot of ivy growing all around. Tidied up but really wanted to have a spade to remove the build up of earth around the base. Good views of surrounding countryside. Spider and cap in place. Chipped on one corner so slightly damaged.

Didn't fancy pulling into the farm track for this one, as pulling back out on this busy road looks and sounds a bit tricky. So I parked in a layby to the west of the trig on the A392 and took the very scary, dangerous walk along the very busy road back to the farm track. Boy was I glad to be off that road. I had to dive into the hedge many times to avoid being knocked down dead by several wing mirrors belonging to fast moving lorries. Trig is up on a bank. Managed to get up on it and clear off all the growing ivy from the trig. Nothing special about this one either hence the low score.

Managed to reverse in off the main road into to farm track but very difficult to get out. Better to park in small lay-by a bit further along the road and walk back to track. Had to do a bit of gardening to take photo's.

Still foggy. This was the closest pillar to where we were staying in Cornwall, so it seemed stupid not to visit. Uninspiring location though. Parked on one of the laybys on the A392 and walked down farmtrack Pillar is easy to find but its up in the hedge.

The pillar stands on a large, overgrown concrete plinth that is set into a Cornish hedge next to a muddy fieldside track of an arable field. It has a metal cap with wide raised lettering and has FB S8005. I was wary of parking in the muddy gateway so I negotiated the traffic on the A392 from a nearby layby in order to reach the track that leads to the trig. From the site there was a misty view over the surrounding countryside; possibly would be better on a clear day.

This is just off the road at the side of a track which runs up to a new phone mast and a ruined barn. It's on top of the dyke which seems normal in Cornwall. There's a layby on the right hand side of the road going wset just past the trig. Plug with raised lettering. (added comment) Apologies for the typographical error, it is indeed S8005 as Nr says and not S8805 as we originally logged. I'd also like to thank him for the lesson in Cornish - from now on it will be hedge.
