1st of 3 Trig Points visited today on my 20 mile cycle/walk outing during Covid-19 Lockdown. Up the track from the road to the woods then up a path to the highest point and followed a path into the trees and straight to the Trig Point in a clearing in the woods.Lovely sunny day.

Much easier than expected. Parked at N57 15.371' W2 27.319', up track to main Cot Town Wood circular track, then Mr U2 spotted a track at N57 15.293' W2 27.168' in the direction of the trigpoint. Once at highpoint just 40 odd meters into the trees heading for the trig clearing, trees not too close together so relatively easy.

Unrecognisable from Graemes photo - the trees are now 6ft and growing. The trig is in a small clear area but has no obvious access point; its a matter of bashing thru to it.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 25th Febuary 1949 costing 9.15s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NO89/T20 within the Aberdeen block during 1950. Levelled for height also in 1950. Last maintained by the OS in May 1989. SITE VISIT: Trig pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with cement suggesting that the OS boss has been absent for a considerable time. The flush bracket is on the NW face of the pillar. Not immediately an easy trig pillar to find amongst the undergrowth, but that was before I bought my GPS receiver. Access OK. Easy walk from Inverurie.
