1" bolt in concrete block, set well back from road on wide grass verge. Used aranc's 16.7m measurement, and the OS's 8.25m; combined with a recently cut verge made this an easy find a few inches down.

Very frustrating - came armed with photos from previous logs and distance from road. Must have actualy been standing on it at one point, but without anything to prod the ground with I spent a very irritating ten minutes trying to find it, to no avail.

Prodding tools (old trowel and screwdriver) have become essential travelling equipment of late and were very much needed to find this surface block by the side of a busy road. Not sure what passersby must have thought!

I don't think the angles on the OS plan are correct. My way of finding it was i) the 8.25m from the road edge (as on the OS plan) ii) KandG's excellent photo showing the Parking sign in line with the right of the tree.

Things did not look too promising for a while as I searched for this block. Tyre tracks from a mowing tractor or ditch clearing JCB were evident everywhere and I thought the block had probably got buried again. As I was approaching despondency I kicked something solid and there it was. I uncovered it as best as I could ready for the next bagger.

Using the photo on the OS link this is an easy find and not covered with grass either. How very thoughtful of those lovely people from the OS to put it opposite a layby with a snackbar in it... Some quite reasonable views but a busy road.
