Roadside dirt pull-in for 2-3 cars to the SE (SJ 7674 1001). Good track most of the way. The pillar sits at the edge of woodland with minimal views. Centre cap missing, tube plugged with what looks like an asphalt plug; all sight holes sealed.

Parked on Nanny Murphy's Lane. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there into Dog Wood. Once I was immediately due south of the pillar, headed north from the PRoW up to the pillar, which is on the northern edge of the wood.

re-visit. Second of two trig target for day. Missed spotting footpath from A5 and looked to be difficult through mature crop. Went round to lane to South and picked up footpath there. A very pleasant walk through the wood on obvious way. As you emerge from the wood the ground rises to your left, but the pillar is about 60m right and about 2m into the wood. well moss covered. Cycled on into Shifnal for a fish and chip lunch.

An unremarkable pillar set on the edge of Dog Wood about 20-30m from the main path through the wood. A Premium geocache (GCR2TJ) is next to the pillar.

Parking at the nearby pub I fell at the first hurdle in failing to find the footpath. So I drove around to the otherside of the wood and approached from there. I found this much easier.

Great morning for cycling down Staffs country lanes. This, my 600th Trig, is just off PF that goes through a wood and its easy to cycle along it. Rather a dark dingy place for a trig. Interesting cycle through corn crop down to Pub on the A5.

Turned north at crackleybank crossroad. Parked on Back road. Took the footpath across paddock land. Electric fences were a pain in the neck. Got to the A5 went right for 100yds then over the road just before the Indian restaurant. The footpath is poorly signed and starts in the car park and runs straight up the hill. Halfway along the second field, I walked diagonally left to the corner and tree line. The trig is just on the edge of the wood. It is not easy to see as you approach so it's as near as you can get to being ambushed by a trig pillar. Pouring rain so didn't hang around. No view at all.

Pillar is on perimeter of Dog Wood, easy walking footpath round from the road then cross over to the wood edge and walk down outside edge of wood to the pillar. Nestled in the wood amongst the trees, need to get close to see it. Good view to NW from the field.

Parked off A5 in restaurant CP. Easy to follow footpath and then diagonally across field to wood line. Getting dark by the time we arrived at the pillar. Mossy covering & photo of FB very dark without a flash. Views limited to the north only. Last trig point of a 12 point day. Not bad for January.

We were visiting geocache GCR2JG and spotted this in the distance! You can peer through the trees at the edge of the wood and get an appreciation of the views the early users of the trig had in what is now a dense wood.

my First Trigpointing! I've come over to this from Geocaching, in fact I found this trig while on a cache hunt. The Trig itself is in tact, though looking in serious need of a repainting. It's nicely tucked away in the woods, it was something of a challange to find it.

Walked along the footpath from the south through the wood, with lots of lovely butterflies in the field by where I parked the car including my first red admirals of the year. The pillar is just inside the wood so you have no views in any direction at this time of year. Covered in moss but white paint still visible. Concrete plug replacement. N sighthole open, others closed. Heard the pheasants......

In woodland known as the Gallops. Not as heavily guarded as the Lizard over the road, and has a handy fp very close by. NB this place is about as "public" as your front room. Dont post misleading info. Chances of getting hassle are slim as you wont be off the straight an narrow for long, but these woods are given over to the holy phea$ant.
