Cap missing. Silage collection in progress by farmer who gave us a wave. Walked up lane approx 200m on right after cottage is a gate. Go into field and walk back down hedge for 30m or so

Parking at the end of the farm track, looking for the derelict cottage! dont! it has gone and there is a nice new build there, so popping into the field not an option, walked up the track and bagged from the track side.

First trig of the year. Thought we should visit this one before the house being developed is completed and access becomes an issue. There is a passing place on the waterworks road with a gate into the field (behind the new house) for a quick visit at N55 57.410 W004 17.508 (NS 57017 76124)

Parked at track end and walked up past ruin, initially went in wrong field on left and Mr U2 said the trig wasn't in the field on the right (same side as ruin). Once in correct field (via gate) trig was a quick find.

Log #255. There is plenty of space to park just by the front of the gate - don't park on the water board's private road. Follow the track and duck into the field at the first opportunity after the ruined cottage. Pillar is in good nick. [ExP-190/MiP-10/Rev-2/BM-14/IS-30/Other-9]

Parked at gate and walked up track. Trig hard to notice in hedge. Walked around and into field for a better look. Views aren't anything to talk about.

Second visit. For GPS reading and photographs. SITE VISIT: Approached from east. Easy parking just off A81 beside north corner of track entrance at NS571760. Direct route up track, crossing into field just beyond ruined cottage. Southern edge of grazing field, farm track behind hedge. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains replacement OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces NNE, ~15° across field. Vented through southmost sight hole. 360° open outlook.

Climbed a fence and walked straight up from Craigmaddie Reservoir. It was a bright sunny evening with much to see.

Good condition pillar with one corner chipped off on the top. FB faces N-ish although partially buried and couldn't completely uncover due to the ground being frozen! S-ish sighthole open only, spider intact and cap with sunken lettering present. The pillar is on the N side of the hedge in the field (friendly coos). Easiest place to get in is by the ruined cottage. Walked up from the reservoirs, but parking at the end of the lane probably OK. Good views across Glasgow.

Someone working in the field so didn't push my luck by walking through it. Only managed to get a limited view of the pillar and not the FB or the spider. Maybe this visit should go down as a visible but not reachable. Views across to Glasgow - if you like that sort of thing.

The ruin was as interesting as the pillar. Had a quick look inside and crossed the fence next to it. The reservoir below was shimmering as the light faded rapidly.

One corner chipped slightly, probably by mechanical hedge trimmer. A new and as yet unmapped construction access road has been built to the north of the lane to Craigash - easy to park just inside this and approach from NE, avoiding hedge.

This is one of the five Trigs around Mugdock Country Park, easy to visit them in a few hours. This was the first one for the day. Parked at bottom of farm road and walked up passed derelict cottage. Had a bit of bother getting over hedge, hind sight better to get into the field at ruin.

Drive up the gated road and the TP is the other side of the hedge beyond the derelict cottage. I didn't bother recording the FB , because it was chucking it down, but it's accessible via a gate further up the road.

Off-white pillar on edge of hay field. Quick burst into field to take photograph while man on tractor was turning hay at the far end of the field.

First visit. To record FB number. Trig 5 of 12 for the day. Anti-clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Glasgow Queen Street station. The pillar was completed in August 1946 costing £6.4s.0d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T138 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1956. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971. Behind hedge from roadway.
